Welcome to a very special edition of the Stamp Review Crew blog hop. This week we’re featuring Lovely As A Tree, a timeless stamp set from Stampin’ Up that Shelli (co-founder and CEO) has promised is not going anywhere because it’s so well loved.
But what makes this hop so special is that all of our cards were featured at the Stampin’ Up convention that just ended Saturday. Now, while I didn’t get to go to Salt Lake City this year, several members of our group did, and they graciously put together our board. It was a real honor to be selected to display our artwork on one of the giant boards.
Since LAAT has been around so long, it’s a little hard to come up with something “new”. If you do a search on Google or Pinterest, you will find thousands of cards made with this set. I’ve been loving my Blendabilities, so I decided to see if there was a way I could color the image with them. Since I was working on a Crumb Cake background, I needed to put a whitewash down using Whisper White craft ink using my blender pen. With the whitewash down, the colors really show up well. I used Old Olive and Daffodil Delight. I think it looks like mottled sunlight on the ground. I really like the effect. What do you think?
Gorgeous card! It does look like mottled sunlight on a summer afternoon!
I never thought to color the trees…it’s beautiful!
Love how you colored the image! Very creative!!
Nice to see a more Summer version!
Very nice I like how you colored the trees too very clever.
Oh yes, I so agree about the look of mottled sunlight. Using the white wash is genius! Love it!
What a beautiful color palette and design! I can almost see the butterflies!
Beautiful!
Very beautiful effect!
Wow, that is really beautiful and unique coloring, Nancy! I will have to give that a try.
I was wondering how you colored it! Very cool – thanks for sharing the “how-to”!
Your trees look like they are aglow as the sun is setting! Great idea to color them!
Love the idea of Crumb Cake as the focal image piece and the white wash technique gives it a fun look. Very pretty
I love the white-wash tip and the sun-dappled scene! It looks so peaceful. I think the trees look like spring with the brighter highlights of new leaves coming in 🙂
